Hi, my name is Maud

And I’m here to help. I’ve been where you are and I want nothing more than for other women to experience the freedom and energy that true health brings.

This is why I created Art of Health.

To me, health is an art. It’s optimal functioning of all systems in your body, allowing you to live life to its fullest. It’s physical, mental, emotional, spiritual. It’s having agency over your life. It’s educating yourself, developing body literacy and making decisions that benefit you and the quality of your life. Mastering the balancing of all these systems, is an art. And I’m here to help you do just that.

My interest in health started in my early twenties. After struggling with body image and binge eating in my late teens, I was determined to change. And so when I moved to Amsterdam for university, I joined a gym. This quickly became my second home and something I thoroughly enjoyed. I was there every day! In addition, I started counting calories and macros and lost the weight I wanted. When the short-term feeling accomplishing my goal wore off, I realized it didn’t actually bring me the joy or confidence I thought it would. I was chronically fatigued, unhappy, couldn’t concentrate or focus and struggled with bloating and severe digestive issues.

Training was still my favourite thing to do. And so, in January 2020, I started pursuing my passion for training by studying for my EREPS Personal Training certification. A little later that year, like many, I hit a breaking point. It was a moment where I knew I could either sink and let my health and happiness decline further, or take massive action. I was determined to choose the latter.

I started working with a functional health coach and within two months, my zest for life was back. I was filled with energy while eating the most foods I ever had, was the fittest I had ever been, looked the best I ever had and my cognitive function had seen massive improvements. I managed to finish my Master’s degree I had been working on for over a year within those two months. And my chronic gut issues? Gone.

Until then, I had no idea it was even possible to feel this way. The symptoms I had experienced had been so normalized (like they are for so many people: it’s not uncommon these days to feel tired, feel constantly stressed, live off caffeine, overeating or under eating - possibly because of fear of foods causing a reaction, dealing with hormonal issues and have trouble focusing). I had no idea you could actually go about your day feeling energized and not worry about your gut every time you leave the house.

It was then that I knew that this new state I was in, is what health is. And I knew I wanted to help others experience this as well.

My story

After graduating from my Master’s degree and finishing my PT certification, I started working as a personal trainer while continuing my education. I studied Functional Medicine at the Institute of Health, did various courses and industry trainings with The Women Series and mentored with incredible coaches. I’ve learned how to read bloodwork, build protocols and coach, and in addition I’ve built a strong network of specialists from all over the world who work in all different areas of health. Now, I get to help other women to experience the freedom and vitality that true health brings.
